Ivy Yang joined ForTran Law Firm in 2007. She holds both a PRC legal practice qualification and a fund practitioner license, and currently serves as a member of the Compliance Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association and a practice mentor at East China Normal University Law School.
Ivy focuses on investment and financing transactions, financial regulation, and corporate compliance. She has extensive experience handling legal and tax matters across the full life cycle of fund formation, investment, management, and exit. Her practice covers fund manager compliance, regulatory issues for financial professionals, fundraising, investment execution, exit strategies, and dispute resolution. In addition to acting as long-term legal counsel to numerous fund managers, she regularly advises clients from a range of sectors including advanced manufacturing, new energy, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, film and media, artificial intelligence, and low-altitude aviation. With deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and industry dynamics, she excels at helping clients resolve legal and tax compliance challenges in their business operations with minimal cost and maximum efficiency.
With a dual academic background in finance and law, Ivy is well-versed in corporate and tax law, and leverages her cross-disciplinary expertise to provide value-added legal services in fund structuring, M&A transactions, and corporate operations. She has a strong track record in financial tax matters, including disputes over restricted shares, equity holding arrangements, equity repurchase tax issues, fund-specific tax audits, and trust-related tax controversies.
Committed to public interest work, Ivy serves as legal counsel to the Shanghai Huxing Public Welfare Foundation and the Beijing Yisheng Charity Foundation, and has assisted in establishing several charitable trust projects. She is also a member of expert panels at several securities firms, providing compliance training for corporate clients. In 2018, she was selected as a representative of outstanding young lawyers from Huangpu District for an exchange program in the United States, and in 2024, she joined a delegation of Huangpu lawyers for a professional exchange in Singapore.
